Capral signs agreement to acquire Comsupply in Western Australia

Capral has agreed to acquire Comsupply in Perth, adding aluminium systems and hardware to its network. The announcement sets out a proposed distribution expansion.

A proposed addition in Western Australia

Capral has signed a binding agreement to acquire the business of Comsupply Pty Ltd, an aluminium systems and hardware distributor in Belmont, Perth. Comsupply serves more than 350 customers and generates approximately $15 million in annual revenue, according to Capral. Its product range covers:

aluminium partition systems;
wardrobes;
hardware.

Comsupply's offering includes the QRK partition system, which Capral describes as patented. Barry Lunn, Divisional General Manager of Capral Building Systems, sees opportunities to extend the range through Capral's national specification capabilities. CEO Tony Dragicevich expects the target's experienced team, customer relationships and suppliers to support the company's national growth plans.

Earlier expansion of the distribution network

Capral added two Aluminium Trade Centres through acquisitions of existing businesses in Melbourne and Brisbane during 2024. Those additions brought the number of new distribution sites over the preceding few years to four. The company had integrated the acquired businesses into its network by its February 2025 review.

Capral's stated distribution strategy is to increase the volume and profitability of its direct-to-market channel. In its operating review dated Feb 26, 2025, the company planned further expansion into adjacent market segments through acquisitions and organic growth. Management also intended to develop its range, service and capabilities to broaden the customer base.

Manufacturing and customer markets

Capral recorded volume of 67,800 tonnes in 2024, down 5% from the previous year. Transport and infrastructure demand remained relatively strong, while residential and commercial construction activity softened. The company retained market-share gains in metal fabrication.

Capral operates six manufacturing sites and a national distribution network serving commercial and residential customers. The proposed Comsupply transaction would broaden its Western Australian aluminium systems and hardware offering. Completion of the proposed acquisition remains pending at publication.
