Five-year manufacturing programme
GE Appliances plans to invest more than $3 billion in its U.S. operations over five years. The programme covers automation and capital equipment at 11 plants, with more than 1,000 new jobs expected. Initial investments will begin in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. The plan follows $3.5 billion in U.S. investment since 2016.
The Camden plant would add electric and GEOSPRING hybrid heat pump water heaters to its gas-water-heater production. GE Appliances expects the project to double output and employment, with its first phase scheduled for early 2026. Other initial product additions include:
- Two new 2-ton Vertical Zoneline air-conditioner models in Selmer, Tennessee, planned for December 2025.
- Six 22-cubic-foot top-freezer refrigerator models in Decatur, Alabama, with production ramp-up planned by the end of August 2025.

Earlier Louisville laundry investment
On 26 June 2025, GE Appliances announced a $490 million project at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The investment would bring more than 15 front-load washer models into Building 2 and create 800 full-time jobs. GE Profile UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer and GE and GE Profile UltraFresh front-load washer production would move from China to Kentucky. The new manufacturing lines were scheduled to open in 2027.
Building 2 would incorporate automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots for material handling, alongside automation and robotics. In-house production would include stainless-steel baskets and cabinets, high-precision metal stamping and forming, and injection-molding equipment. The adjacent Building 1 already produces top-load washers and front-load dryers.

Water-heating product context
GE Appliances launched its GE Profile GEOSPRING Smart Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater on 2 June 2025. The product's SmartHQ app enables energy-use and cost monitoring, temperature and capacity adjustments, and custom schedules. A sensing anode rod can alert owners when replacement is needed, while wireless leak detection and a smart shutoff valve provide additional water-protection features.
The range includes 240-volt and 120-volt options. Its operating modes are Heat Pump Only, Hybrid, High Demand, Standard Electric and Vacation. The company made 40- and 50-gallon capacities available in June for the U.S. and Canada, with 65- and 80-gallon models planned by the end of 2025.
