Demand across a diversified manufacturer

Dover's second-quarter 2024 results showed continued demand for industrial equipment alongside changes to the businesses it owned. For the quarter ended 30 June, net income reached $282 million, or $2.04 per share, against $242 million and $1.72 a year earlier. Revenue rose 4% to approximately $2.2 billion. Sales in Engineered Products, which serves automotive, aerospace and defense customers, increased about 5.5%.

The wider portfolio includes consumables, aftermarket parts and digital solutions as well as machinery. In July, Dover agreed to sell its Environmental Solutions business to Terex for $2 billion in cash. That business makes waste-collection machinery and associated equipment. The agreement formed part of a move toward higher-margin operations; it was a proposed transaction rather than a completed disposal at the time.

Making room for machining and assembly

Factory space provides a concrete view of how Dover supports its equipment businesses. On 30 August 2023, PSG announced the opening of its expanded Grand Rapids facility in Michigan, in the United States. Nearly two years of construction and renovation had added 56,000 square feet for manufacturing, offices and research and development. The project also introduced energy-efficient lighting, heating, air conditioning and manufacturing systems.

Lara Kauchak, general manager of PSG Grand Rapids, identified machining and assembly space as a constraint the expansion addressed. Blackmer pumps had been manufactured at the Century Avenue location since 1925. The additional space was intended to improve manufacturing capacity, accommodate new product lines and support industrial, defense and energy customers. Employee facilities were part of the project too, with improvements to locker rooms, bathrooms, break rooms and parking. PSG belongs to Dover's Pumps & Process Solutions segment, distinguishing this investment from the Engineered Products sales figures.

Coordinating heavy-vehicle lifting

Vehicle servicing presents a different equipment problem: several lifting columns must work together around a large vehicle. On 28 August 2024, Rotary introduced its patent-pending Flex MAX Linker. A single remote can connect and control up to 18 Flex MAX mobile columns, supporting work on heavy-duty trucks, multi-axle buses, coaches and railway wagons. The controls use push buttons and a digital display. A linked system can comprise two, four or six columns, for different vehicles.

Rotary specified compatibility with all its Flex MAX mobile-column models. Adjustable wheel forks on each pair of columns accommodate different wheel sizes. The company presents the linker as a way to improve service time and make better use of workshop space, although those benefits are product claims rather than quantified results from particular repair shops. Rotary operates within Vehicle Service Group in Dover's Engineered Products segment. Its wider offering covers lifting, wheel service, diagnostics, calibration, alignment and air-conditioning service, connecting the new accessory to an established vehicle-repair equipment range.

Smaller tools for electronics assembly

At the other end of the size range, electronics rework depends on tools that can reach miniature components under a microscope. Metcal introduced its MicroFine handpieces and cartridge tips on 10 October 2024. The range includes soldering and tweezer configurations compatible with both MX Series and Connection Validation systems. Smaller, lighter handpieces retain the fixed-temperature process control associated with Metcal's SmartHeat products. Joshua Edberg, vice president of sales and marketing, said the tools permit rework on components as small as 01005 without purchasing a separate system.

The accompanying workstands allow hands-free insertion and removal of tips and hands-free alignment of tweezer cartridges. Product director Can La emphasized balance, low weight and ergonomics for microscope use. These changes address both access to the component and the operator's handling of the tool. Metcal is part of OK International, a Dover company supplying equipment for electronics and industrial assembly. Its activities span hand soldering, convection rework, fume extraction and fluid dispensing; the MicroFine range extends the soldering equipment already available to its customers.

Connections through freezing and storage

Biopharmaceutical processing requires connectors that preserve a sterile fluid path under demanding conditions. On 11 September 2024, CPC introduced its MicroCNX ULT aseptic micro-connector for cell and gene therapy processing. Its compact format fits inside the freeze cassettes used to store and transport biological materials. CPC specified resistance to temperatures down to −190°C. Senior product manager Troy Ostreng linked that requirement to cell-therapy processes moving to temperature ranges of −150°C or lower to support cell health, shelf life and transport.

Chemical compatibility is another part of the design. CPC identified dimethyl sulfoxide, used in cryopreservation, and commonly used tubing materials including PVC. The product builds on the 1/8-inch MicroCNX connector family, which provides an alternative to tube welding for closed sterile connections at small volumes. CPC had also introduced MicroCNX Luers in June for sterile connections outside a biosafety cabinet. Together, these products show how connector dimensions, chemical exposure, temperature and sterile handling intersect in equipment used from laboratory development through larger biopharmaceutical operations.

Measuring aggressive process fluids

Measurement equipment faces its own material constraints when production involves corrosive liquids. Malema, part of PSG, launched the CIFM-88 DuraMassFlow PFA Coriolis industrial flow meter on 4 December 2024. The company identified chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, paper applications and wastewater treatment as suitable uses. Its patented design applies the Coriolis principle to measuring aggressive chemistries, including acids and alkalis. PFA-wetted materials provide chemical resistance inside a stainless-steel enclosure intended for harsh industrial environments.

Malema specified simultaneous measurement of mass flow, density and temperature, with accuracy of ±1%, including gas volumetric void fractions up to 30%. A built-in LCD displays flow rate, totalized flow, temperature and density. These are the manufacturer's stated specifications; a plant's operating conditions still define the particular application. The company positions the PFA design as an alternative to meters made with costly exotic metals and claims reduced maintenance and downtime. Malema is based in Boca Raton, Florida, with facilities in San Jose, California, and India, within Dover's Pumps & Process Solutions business.

Larger valves for hydrogen handling

Cryogenic equipment must match the fluid-handling infrastructure around it. On 22 May 2024, ACME Cryogenics announced new six-inch and eight-inch sizes for its Model CV valve range, addressing demand for larger-bore hydrogen valves. ACME is part of OPW Clean Energy Solutions within Dover's Clean Energy & Fueling segment. The company described the valves as suitable for hydrogen handling and compatible with applications requiring vacuum-jacketed valves and piping. It stated that the range complies with ASME B31.3 and CSA B51 requirements governing industrial applications across pressure and temperature ratings.

The intended markets include aerospace, food and beverage, electronics, vehicle refueling, industrial manufacturing and medical applications. ACME, established in 1969 and headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania, also supplies vacuum-jacketed piping, fittings, LNG fueling components and other flow-control devices. Its activities cover components and services for producing, storing and distributing cryogenic gases. Dover acquired ACME in 2021, when it became a founding member of OPW Clean Energy Solutions. The valve additions therefore extend a cryogenic hardware platform rather than representing a new standalone business.

A later addition in centrifugal pumps

A separate development on 20 January 2025 broadened PSG's cryogenic equipment portfolio. Dover announced its acquisition of Cryogenic Machinery Corp., known as Cryo-Mach, with the business joining PSG in Pumps & Process Solutions. Based in North Hollywood, California, Cryo-Mach designs and manufactures cryogenic centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals and accessories. Its equipment serves applications involving liquefied oxygen, argon and nitrogen, expanding Dover's participation in industrial gas and transportation markets.

PSG president Karl Buscher described the acquisition as a way to extend its core pump businesses into adjacent markets. Transaction terms were not disclosed. The announcement establishes the addition of technology and product scope, without providing a purchase price or a quantified subsequent contribution to production or sales.

Testing heat exchangers at a larger scale

Product development also depends on facilities that reproduce relevant operating conditions. On 30 December 2024, SWEP announced a new propane test rig at its research and development center in Landskrona, Sweden. The company had been able to test small and medium-sized units with propane since 2019; the new installation extended in-house testing to XL-size units. The equipment supports development of brazed plate heat exchangers for heating and cooling systems using natural refrigerants, including next-generation heat pumps and chillers.

Propane's low global-warming potential does not remove its flammability. SWEP identified operational safety and quality as central considerations in commissioning the rig. President Ulrika Nordqvist connected the investment to work with customers on system-design requirements. The facility formed part of a global investment program running from 2019 through 2025, intended to strengthen capacity and add capabilities. This is a testing and development investment, distinct from a measured increase in commercial heat-exchanger output or a claim that every product has the same operating envelope.

Hardware at the food and fueling interface

Several Dover businesses supply equipment used together at convenience and food-retail sites. Ahead of the 8–10 October 2024 NACS Show and PEI Convention in Las Vegas, the company outlined a range spanning refrigeration, fueling and vehicle washing. Hillphoenix offerings included R290 refrigerated cases and the CO2One condensing unit for systems using carbon dioxide as refrigerant. Anthony's Infinity MAX walk-in cooler doors removed mullions and vertical rails for an all-glass format. These products address different parts of the same retail environment, from cooling machinery to access and merchandise display.

  • Dover Fueling Solutions planned to show its Wayne PWR DC fast charger, designed and manufactured in Austin, Texas.
  • OPW Retail Fueling's range included underground fuel-delivery systems, watertight tank components and dispensing nozzles.
  • OPW Vehicle Wash Solutions planned to introduce the Kondor Flight one- and two-arm touchless in-bay wash system to convenience-store customers.

These were announced exhibition offerings, with different equipment functions and customer needs; the presentation did not establish sales volumes or deployment results for the individual products.

Virginia manufacturing plans in 2025

The food-retail equipment portfolio subsequently received a manufacturing and logistics investment plan. On 20 October 2025, Dover Food Retail announced that it would invest more than $20 million in its Virginia operations. The project involved relocating Anthony brand manufacturing from Sylmar, California, to its Virginia campus and was projected to create more than 300 jobs over the following year. Production would include commercial glass refrigerator and freezer doors and frames for customers across North America and other markets.

President Paul Sindoni identified new factory equipment, expanded research and development laboratories, a parts hub and a distribution center as elements of the investment. Those functions connect manufacturing with product development, replacement parts and delivery. Dover Food Retail, headquartered in Conyers, Georgia, operates the Anthony, Hillphoenix, Advansor and AMS Group brands. The October announcement describes an investment and relocation program, with employment projections rather than a verified count of hires or a statement that all the planned facilities had already entered operation.

Keeping codes readable on cables

Industrial marking extends Dover's manufacturing role into consumables used on finished products. On 2 October 2024, Markem-Imaje introduced MW2440 white MEK ink for polyethylene cables, including low-smoke, zero-halogen materials. The company designed it to adhere without pre-treatment or post-treatment and retain readable markings when cables are bent, rolled and stored. Resistance to water, ethanol, ultraviolet light and temperature changes is relevant to codes that must remain legible beyond the printing station.

Markem-Imaje stated that high-contrast dot definition supports barcodes, data matrix codes and QR codes at grade B or better. Its halogen-free formulation was also presented as reducing toxic fumes in a fire. These are attributed product properties, rather than a general certification of every cable carrying the ink. The product was available for all 9750+ coder models. Alongside inkjet systems, Markem-Imaje supplies thermal-transfer, laser and print-and-apply equipment, linking consumable development with the hardware manufacturers use for identification and traceability.

Dewatering and drying in polymer processing

Dover's polymer-processing equipment portfolio expanded on 13 January 2025 through the acquisition of certain assets from Carter Day International's petrochemical division. The assets became part of MAAG in Pumps & Process Solutions. They added engineered products and proprietary technologies to the pelletizing portfolio's dewatering and drying equipment, including high-volume dryer technology complementary to MAAG's existing range.

MAAG president Ueli Thuerig linked the transaction to customers' processing needs. Financial terms were not disclosed. The purchase covered specified assets in the petrochemical division, rather than an announced acquisition of Carter Day International as a whole.

Compact pelletizing for smaller production runs

A further MAAG development addressed the scale of production equipment. On 4 September 2025, the company announced PEARLO Compact System, an underwater pelletizing solution for small-scale plastics compounding, masterbatch production and processing virgin polymers. The dated launch announcement specified throughputs of 50 to 500 kilograms per hour. MAAG emphasized a compact footprint, accessibility and straightforward operation for lower-volume production. Pellets produced in these processes become inputs for applications including packaging, consumer goods and automotive parts.

Product manager Rico Sandmann highlighted cleaning, waste reduction and scalability as design priorities. The company scheduled the system's presentation for K 2025 in Düsseldorf on 8–15 October. MAAG's broader activities include pumps and filtration, pelletizing and pulverizing, recycling, and measurement and control. Its production sites span Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, the United States and China. The compact system complements that processing portfolio with equipment sized for smaller runs, while the announcement's performance range and promised benefits remain specific to the product and the date on which they were stated.
