Packaging production and engineering expand
Nefab has opened a second Guadalajara packaging plant and an engineering and customer experience centre in Austin, Texas. The sites expand its manufacturing presence in Mexico and its packaging development capabilities in the United States. The Guadalajara operation produces thermoformed trays and cushioning for customers in automotive, electronics and lithium batteries.
The two facilities serve different functions. Guadalajara adds production capacity for plastic packaging, while Austin provides space to develop packaging designs and evaluate their performance.

A second Guadalajara manufacturing site
The new plant covers 5,400 square metres, or more than 58,000 square feet, in the northern Pinar industrial area. Nefab announced the project on 24 March 2025 and said it doubled manufacturing capacity in Guadalajara. Employment is expected to reach 50 people when the facility operates at full capacity.
Thin-gauge automatic thermoforming is combined with in-house engineering and tooling. Used packaging is collected, ground and formed into sheets for reuse. Nefab says several material groups incorporate 100% recycled content; it plans to extend this approach further. The Guadalajara facility complements an existing local operation supplying wood, plywood, corrugated and foam packaging, and a Leon site specialising in heavy-gauge thermoforming. Nefab also operates Mexican sites in Monterrey, Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua. The new plant adds a second Guadalajara location to that existing network.

Austin adds prototyping and customer testing
Nefab announced its Austin centre on 10 April 2025, with an investment of $2.5 million. The engineering team works with customers on packaging development and testing.
Prototyping equipment supports corrugated materials, wood, foam, fibre flute and hybrid constructions. Customers can collaborate with designers on site to refine their packaging.

The adjoining Customer Experience Center offers practical applications and simulated environments for examining designs and assessing material performance before full-scale implementation. The centre supports the region's technology, automotive and manufacturing sectors, with packaging innovation and customer collaboration among the aims of the investment.
Nefab says its Austin engineering capabilities shorten turnaround times for prototypes, samples and raw-material testing from weeks to hours. That is the company's stated performance claim.
Different functions at the two sites
- Guadalajara: manufacturing, warehousing and thin-gauge thermoforming.
- Austin Engineering Center: packaging design, prototyping and in-house testing.
- Austin Customer Experience Center: hands-on assessment in practical and simulated conditions.
